MCP or API: which one should I pick?
With MCP, you work right from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor: you talk to your AI as usual and it edits your site. With an API key, you chat with the AI directly in the Ship My Website editor, next to the preview. Both do the same thing: just pick the way of working that suits you.
Which AIs are compatible?
Any AI that supports MCP: Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, Gemini, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf, Mistral, Cline… And any tool that can call an API.
Do I need to buy AI credits?
No. Your requests run on your AI subscription or your API key, as usual. We don’t sell credits.
Do I need an Ahrefs or Semrush subscription?
No, it’s not required: your site’s analytics work without them. But you can connect your SEO tools (Ahrefs, Semrush, DataForSEO, Google Search Console…) to get more data in your analytics dashboard, and your AI then works from real search data.
Do I need to code to use VS Code?
No. VS Code is an option for those who like working on their computer: your AI makes the changes there, and everything is sent to the platform automatically. Otherwise, the online editor is all you need.
How it works
Your AI plugs into your website, then into your tools. It works from your real data, and you keep the preview and publishing on the platform.
Step 01
Plug in your AI via MCP or API
Add the Ship My Website MCP connector to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client: your AI gets the tools to read, edit and publish your website. The API lets you plug in your own agent, a script or an automation.

Step 02
Add your SEO tools
Plug Ahrefs, DataForSEO or Semrush into your AI as well. It sees what your future customers search for, how often and against which competition, then writes the pages and articles to match.
Keywords and volumes
Google search data
What do you want to improve?
Step 03
Track results with your analytics
Plug in Google Search Console and Google Analytics: your AI sees which pages climb on Google, which ones drop and where your visitors come from. And you’ll find the essentials on your website’s Analytics page.
Who visits your site, and where they come from.

Step 04
Or work from VS Code
Get a copy of your website and open it in VS Code. Talk to Claude Code, Copilot or Cursor as usual: changes are made in Ship My Website, and you follow the preview and publish on the platform.
